The container
is loaded with the twistlock in the locked position, as the
corner fitting engages, the head of the twistlock rotates
against a spring bias to the unlocked position. When the corner
fitting is completely engaged the head returns to the fully
locked position. Unlocking is a manual operation. The operating
handle is pushed to the unlock position against the unlock
position against the spring bias.
As the container is lifted off the edges of the corner fitting
engage the twistlock head Motivating it into a further unlocked
position, which then allows the gravity latch to fall, permitting
the twistlock head to rotate back to the locked/load position
as soon as the container is clear.
